Purpose

Testing the tensile strength serves to determine the attenuation behaviour under tensile stress and/or the tensile strength (breaking force) of a buffered fibre. Tensile stresses can act on the POF during manufacture, further processing, or installation. They can be exerted over a brief period or (e.g. in the case of faulty installation) over extended periods.
