This standard is intended for specialist planners, constructors and operators of buildings, supervisory bodies, facility managers in addition to manufacturers, fitters and maintenance companies specialising in equipment conveying persons within buildings. The specifications discussed in this standard do not apply to all types of buildings.

This standard applies to inter-system communications between lifts, escalators and passenger conveyors and other items of technical building services.

It is intended to assist planers, constructors and operators in ensuring the compatibility of data used in inter- system communications. The standard is based on existing standards with reference to this matter. The standard defines groups of information and classifies the content of the information into the areas, safety, ability to function and economic viability.

The data made available are intended to serve in the safe and economical operation of lifts, escalators and passenger conveyors whilst ensuring a high level of availability.
