scope:
The present guideline applies to the planning, erection, operation, and maintenance of building services facilities. These may be found in or on
buildings or land which may properly be visited by the general public in addition to the individuals who work there, or
in buildings or facilities specifically built or installed for the use of visitors.
The purpose of this guideline is to make recommendations derived from collected experience as to how building service installations can be planned, built, and operated so as to provide far-reaching protection against wilful or unintentional damage to or destruction of technical facilities and components.
The guideline provides information on precautionary measures aimed at safeguarding proper use of the building - but not during the construction phase. It should be borne in mind that damage can occur to building service installations during the construction phase either deliberately or unintentionally and this cannot be prevented with the requirements listed in this guideline.
