This guideline applies to the determination and assessment of water consumption in buildings and on adjacent ground.

The characteristic values of water consumption apply to buildings and adjacent grounds overall. Consideration of consumption of part of a building and/or relative to utilisation is not permissible. All consumption areas within the building are considered.

The numerical values of water supply utilities are also given for information (Section 13).

Object and purpose of the guideline

The purpose of the guideline is to assess the water consumption using an empirical basis in order to obtain information on the utilisation and on the standard of technical equipment.

The numerical values and diagrams for water consumption given in this diagram are based on measured values and are designed as an aid for the target groups.

In view of the basic importance of water for sustained development, water saving activities should be further developed. The target values should provide an incentive for innovative water supply concepts.
