scope:
This standard defines a format for the description of gear data. This allows quick and safe exchange of gear data between various computer systems and applications. The definition makes clearly defined data for the essential applications of gear technology available, going from calculation and design via production to quality assurance.
Foci of attention of the GDE Format are the fields of production and measurement of gears as well as applications supporting design. Above all, it is supposed to promote electronic data exchange.
The GDE Format allows connecting all electronic data processing applications of gear technology to modern database systems at low expenditure. At the same time, it is so designed that it can be easily expanded to suit different user needs and arrangements made by individual users.
The data is readable for data processing application as well as for users, the data processing application, however, is the priority.
The associated DTD file can be viewed using a standard browser that can display XML data.
