This guideline is concerned with uniform measurement, interpretation and evaluation of the vibration exposure of employees in workplaces in buildings in which vibration transfers to the individual via the floor. In this case vibration input locations in the human body might be the feet or the buttocks. This guideline also applies analogously to workplaces in the open air.

Note: This guideline is not to be applied to immission control within the meaning of the Federal Ambient Pollution Control Act (BImSchG). This subject is dealt with in DIN 4150-2.

Fundamental provisions regarding the measurement of vibration in the workplace will be found in DIN EN 14253. Examples of typical vibration exciters are:
