Scope of application and purpose
This guideline provides information which supplements the existing relevant standards for planning, installation, commissioning, operation, operating modes and maintenance of drinking water supply systems, heating systems, refrigeration installations, solar energy systems and so on both inside and outside buildings. Its scope of application covers such water-carrying systems as are installed and operated in areas at risk of freezing.
The guideline will describe the relationships between the individual operating factors and the water temperatures which normally occur and provide information on how to prevent damage caused by freezing. Planners, manufacturers of equipment and components, specialist installation contractors, owners and users are thus provided with a guideline for planning, constructing, operating and maintaining water-carrying systems both inside and outside buildings.
