Purpose and scope

It is the purpose of this Guideline to give hints on the noise Situation of metropolitan railways under different operating conditions, to be used for the planning, construction and Operation.

Airborne sound emissions and immissions are to be determined in accordance with the Verkehrslärmschutzverord¬ nung (16th BImSchV, [Ordinance on traffic noise control]) dated 1990-06-12 - in connection with the "Guideline for the determination of sound immissions of railways - Schall 03". For the airborne sound, the present Guideline is thus mainly restricted to the description of sound sources and the associated influence on emissions and immissions. It refers to noise reduction measures.

The purely analytical treatment of the structure-borne sound is not yet possible due to the very complex influencing quantities. However, the systematics of the measuring technology and the prognosis as well as the measures for structure-borne sound control are described.

NOTE Vibrations in buildings in the frequency ränge from 1 Hz to 80 Hz are dealt with in DIN 4150-1 to DIN 4150-3.
