The technical foundations for the verification through measurements of the thermal properties (e. g. heat flow densities and surface temperatures) of insulation systems at operational installations in industry and in technical Building Services that have been agreed between insulation contractor and client are the topic of this guideline.

In Section 6, methods for the determination of total heat losses of installations have additionally been proposed. The total heat loss may be consequential when assessing the energy efficiency of industrial installations.
