scope:

This standard applies to insulation work on industrial installations and in technical building equipment. These comprise production and distribution installations, e.g. appliances, vessels, columns, tanks, steam generators, pipe systems, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and hot and cold water installations.

Where there are fire protection and/or sound insulation requirements (e.g. German Regulations in TA Lärm, see Bibliography), the relevant standards (see Clause 2) or building inspectorate approvals shall be heeded.

This standard does not apply to insulation work on the building envelope, internal partitions and false ceilings, or to marine and automobile construction or the controlled area of nuclear power plants.
