scope:
The standard specifies generally applicable calibration methods for the calibration of measuring equipment for electrical quantities and thus creates a uniform, cross-company basis for the monitoring of test equipment.
This standard treats the calibration of oscilloscopes. It does not cover all technical details of oscilloscopes, even when they are important for calibration. The relevant standards and documents (see Bibliography) have been taken into account in this standard. In addition, for a specific oscilloscope calibration, the user must take into consideration the documentation provided by the manufacturer of the oscilloscope in question.
In this standard, both analogue oscilloscopes (AO) and digital storage oscilloscopes (DSO) as well as sampling oscilloscopes and transient recorders (along with probes connected to them) are discussed. The calibration of voltage probes is only valid in combination with a calibrated oscilloscope. The calibration certificate must state which adaptor was used between them as well as the oscilloscope channel used. The calibration of the test probe needs to be assigned clearly to a channel. The used test probe needs to be stated in the calibration certificate.
The measured values are displayed as a waveform by a cathode-ray tube (CRT), a display, an indicated value or they can be processed and stored as a digital data stream.
