inactive
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 November 2008
Status: inactive
Page Count: 30
ICS Code (Lifts. Escalators): 91.140.90
scope:

This guideline applies to passenger and goods lifts with the exception of firefighter lifts used during firebrigade operations.

It is intended to help planners, installation companies, operators, safety organisations and responsible authorities (such as fire brigades) to secure people's safety by fitting lifts with control systems which in the event of a fire automatically remove the lifts from the danger area or take them to the specified stop.

It describes which fires are deemed non-critical as far as use of the building is concerned and under what conditions further operation of lifts in the building is permissible despite an initial fire alarm.
