scope:
Industrial manufacturing processes are influenced by a variety of parameters. These parameters are often referred to in German as 5M, for the German words denoting human, machine, method, material, environment (ambient effects such as temperature, air humidity, etc.).
Machine capability tests are used to determine the stability and reproducibility of the process parameter "machine". This allows predictions to be made about the expected process errors caused by the machine. These predictions constitute an objective reference point for the quality of different machines.
This standard describes the machine capability test (MCT) through a statistical analysis of the measured readings of fastening tools (short-term investigation).
MCTs are intended to ensure that only suitable fastening tools are used. This standard covers only tools that in some suitable form have a controllable target variable (e. g. torque); e. g. shut-off nut setters but no stall-type tools.
