scope:
The subject of this Guideline is the reduction of emissions from presses applying the gravure and flexographic printing process on printing stock in the form of sheets or webs of paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, corrugated cardboard and composite materials made out of these. Drying is carried out with hot air/warm air or UV radiation.
This Guideline contains a description of the various stages in the printing process, the components of the printing plant and the materials used. It describes their interaction and their effects on conditions during printing and on printing results as well as the forma¬ tion of emissions and emission avoidance.
This Guideline does not apply to downstream process¬ ing equipment and especially not to facilities for varnishing and laminating which are not integrated in the printing process. If a gravure or flexographic printing press is used for varnishing or a varnishing machine for printing, this Guideline is to be applied analogously.
