This VDI Guideline is applicable regardless of the industry. It is a supplement and in-depth treatment of the guideline VDI 4003, which describes a general framework for organising, steering and controlling - in the meaning of management - reliability- oriented activities. In this manner, overall, the development and implementation of reliable products is given decisive support.
The purpose of this guideline is the description and depiction of methods and possible procedures for the determination, checking, reviewing and certification of reliability goals. It supports the development, the preparation, the operation and the disposal of a product (also system, process, etc.) through practically oriented work instructions.
