National Grid Technical Specifications - Overall Protection

This Specification details the functional and performance requirements for the overall protection of the following Substation HV Equipment:
(a) 400 kV and 275 kV Auto Transformers
(b) 400 kV and 275 kV Static Var Compensators including; Static Compensator Transformer (SCT), Earthing/Auxiliary Transformer, LV Connections, Thyristor Switched Capacitors (TSC), Thyristor Switched Reactors (TSR), and Filter Bank.
(c) 400 kV, 275 kV and 132 kV copperwork connections including; Mesh Corners, Transformer HV and LV Connections, Transformer Stub End and Feeder Stub End.
(d) 400 kV and 275 kV Double-Wound Transformers.
(e) 400 kV and 275 kV Quadrature Boosters. (f) 400 kV, 275 kV, 132 kV and 13 kV Shunt Reactors.
(g) 400 kV and 275 kV Series Reactors.
(h) 132 kV Mechanically Switched Capacitors (MSCs) including Common Banking Connections and Capacitor Bank.
(i) 400 kV and 275 kV Transformer Tertiary or LV Connections to Static Compensation Equipment.
(j) 400 kV and 275 kV Mechanically Switched Capacitors (MSCs).
(k) Relocatable Variable VAR Compensators (RSVCs) for connection to Transformer Tertiary Windings.
Informative: This specification does not apply to the protection of busbars, the protection arrangements for which are specified in NGTS 2.24.34 Busbar Protection.
