1 SCOPE.
This specification covers the basic physical, chemical and performance requirements of purging solvents for use with waterborne enamels. .The.se materials shall effkiently clean all residual coating from the internal surfaces of conventional and electrostatic application equipment during color changes and before shutdown of the equipment. The materials may be individual solvents or blends of solvents with water. This specification covers new (virgin) solvents or blends, not reclaimed or reconstituted materials. Purge solvents must not be used for coating reduction. In addition they must not be used for cleaning the external parts of equipment or spray booths unless expressly approved in individual plant applications. Purge materials covered under this specification are not interchangeable, and must be evaluated and approved for use with each plant¿ s specific coating materials, equipment and purge cycle time and sequence.
