scope:

This Standard applies to elevating rolling work platforms used on a level surface and 'that are incapable of being self-propelled from an operating station on the work platform, and that are used to position personnel, along with their tools and necessary materials, at overhead work locations.

Purpose. The purpose of this Standard is to outline the requirements and recommended practices for manufacturers, dealers, and users of such. work platforms to achieve the following objectives:

(a) Prevention of personal injuries or accidents;

(b) Uniformity in ratings;

(c) Standards for design and manufacture;

(d) Establishment of performance criteria;

(e) Standards for testing and inspection;

(f) Understanding by manufacturers, dealers, and users of their respective responsibilities.
