scope:

This standard deals with the sinking of boreholes:

- for bored wells for

- water extraction and introduction,

- ground water lowering,

- drainage,

- degasification purposes,

- for use as ground water gauging stations,

- for taking geotechnical measurements,

- to make use of geothermal energy,

- to install anodes.

The standard also deals with the maintenance, the rehabilitation and the abandonment of such boreholes. 

This standard does not cover

- earthwork associated with borehole sinking operations (see DIN 18300),

- the development of boreholes for the construction of bored piles.

DIN 18299, clauses 1 to 5 shall also apply. In cases where the specifications of DIN 18299 contradict the present standard, DIN 18302 shall take precedence
