scope:
This standard contains a compilation of general information regarding
• the effect of vibrations on the hand-arm system
• determination of the exposure to hand-arm vibrations (including prevention) and the retrospective assessment of the vibration exposure with regard to stress on the individual.
Clarification is given of the relationships between prescriptive codes relevant to this purpose (e.g., legislation, ordinances, technical rules, standards, guidelines).
Guide values and instructions for assessing exposure to hand-arm vibrations are explained with respect to the effects on the individual which are to be expected.
The present standard does not define any limit values for the acceptability or permissibility of vibration exposure but instead refers the reader to the corresponding prescriptive codes.
This standard is not intended to be used for determining characteristic values (emission data) for the vibration emissions from vibrating hand-held or hand-guided powered machines. The corresponding standards for the emissions data required in accordance with the 9th Regulation of the Product Safety Act (Machinery Directive - 9 ProdSV) are listed in the DIN EN ISO 28927 and DIN EN 60745 Series of Standards and elsewhere.
