This VDI Standard is aimed at people in producing companies who are responsible for implementing statutory waste management regulations specifically within their company.

The VDI Standard is intended to serve as a guide to newcomers to help them establish an organisational structure, ensure a flow of materials and information, develop employee skills and qualifications and thus introduce a waste disposal logistics system. It supports waste management officers (German Ordinance on Company Waste Management Officers - AbfBeauftrV) in their work. It addresses liability issues and indicates the potential for reducing costs and/or increasing profits.

This VDI Standard is aimed at both senior management and executive institutions. It contains important information for departments concerned with environmental protection, environmental officers, materials handling and logistics, specialist disposal companies, production planning, production unit managers and plant operators.
