This Standard specifies the requirements for the packaging of sealed and hermetically sealed electrical indicating instruments to Military Levels P, N and J (equivalent to NATO Levels 4, 3 and 2 respectively).

Only robust assemblies, (with a minimum fragility factor of 100 gn), and a Primary Packaged Quantity (PPQ) of up to 2 kg mass are covered. For assemblies with a fragility factor less than 100 gn a Services Packaging Instruction Sheet shall be raised with appropriate cushion calculations being carried out.

This Standard covers components up to and including 100 mm diameter.
