Expanded Polyethylene Sheet, Types GP and QX, Grades A, B, C and D
| Organization: | MODUK |

scope:
This Standard specifies requirements for four grades (A, B, C and D) of expanded polyethylene sheet for use as a resilient cushioning material in packaging of fragile supplies. The grades are characterised by maximum permissable apparent density as shown in table 2. The material has a low water absorption and is therefore suitable for use outside a moisture vapour barrier.
The designation "Type GP" indicates the material is of a quality suitable for general packaging applications. While the designation "Type QX" indicates that the material may be suitable for applications where a degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Advice and Guidance, Defence Packaging Group, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
