This Defence Standard (Def Stan) 91-065 specifies the requirements for two (2) grades of Lubricating Oil, Gear, Compounded for use in the following:

a) OC-300 for use in Royal Navy (RN) Torpedoes and certain RN Naval worm reduction gears operated over the product temperature range above minus 20°C.

b) OC-600 for use in vehicle transmissions, general gear applications and chassis lubrication operated over the product temperature range above 0°C.

NOTE: These Lubricants are not suitable for use with Hypoid Gears in Automatic Transmissions or Torque Converter Drives.
