Purpose.
This standard provides a procedure to measure polymer thermal expansion with Thermomechanical Analyzer (TMA) equipment, with a particular emphasis on the following three steps: the sampling, the annealing step to achieve reversibility of thermal expansion, and the data reporting. These steps have a great influence on the provided Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE) data and are defined in this standard to provide consistent and comparative data.
