This procedure applies to all the MMTs owned and operated by Network Rail Infrastructure Maintenance (IM) and all Network Rail staff. The procedure works in collaboration with applicable standards of any Railway Undertaking (RU) contracted to operate the MMT.
The operating procedures that form this suite of documents:
a) apply to all methods of operation, including working in a possession and working in section; and
b) cover the whole operational lifecycle of the fleet, from the planning to the use on the shift.
They do not cover:
c) the ongoing maintenance of the MMT fleet or engineering change process which is managed by Route Services in line with standard fleet management practices; or
d) all of the activities undertaken by the Railway Undertaking staff who operate and maintain the fleet on Network Rail's behalf; it only covers those activities that directly impact the operation of the fleet and the interaction with Network Rail staff to achieve this operation.
The manual is made up of the modules described in Table 1.
Purpose
The purpose of this manual is to provide a suite of consistent, safe and coherent working instructions to control the day to day risks of operating the fleet of Mobile Maintenance Trains (MMT) owned and operated by Network Rail Infrastructure Maintenance (IM).
