Purpose/Material Description.

This specification covers the basic requirements for a corrosion protective coating system for spring hose clamps per GMW15184. This coating is corrosion resistant and provides excellent adhesion properties for glued-on clamp applications. The material is a zinc flake basecoat with an organic topcoat.

Symbols.

Not applicable.

Applicability.

The coating is suitable for constant tension clamps. The maximum continuous service temperature is 200 °C.

Remarks.

This coating may affect the frictional properties of the part. It is recommended that a study of the joint be performed before releasing this finish on any new application.

This coating process may generate a small amount of hydrogen in the pretreatment process. However, this coating has high permeability, which allows for the effusion of hydrogen after coating. See 3.10 for precautions against hydrogen embrittlement.
