ATIS 0800013
Media Formats and Protocols for IPTV Services
Organization: | ATIS |
Publication Date: | 1 April 2012 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 46 |
scope:
This document identifies the media formats and protocols, including reliability protocols, for IPTVrelated services. As the set of IPTV-related services is expected to evolve over time, this document may undergo multiple revisions based on the scope of services that are developed to reference this document.
Media formats identify the codec families that are used for IPTV services.
The media protocols include the protocols used for actual audio and video media streaming delivery over IP. Other protocols are also included for the control of those media streams, and the delivery of other metadata using non-streaming mechanisms.
Purpose
The purpose of this specification is to collect into one document the protocols and media formats required for implementation of ATIS IIF IPTV-related services. As new services are developed in the IPTV environment, it is expected that these services will first look to build on these protocols and media formats rather than requiring new capabilities. Specific constraints on these protocols and media formats may be developed further in individual service related specifications.
