PURPOSE AND SCOPE
This method determines the breaking strength by the grab method. It is not generally recommended for testing knitted fabrics and may have to be modified for woven fabrics containing high-stretch yarns.
The procedure is applicable to fabrics either in the conditioned state or when wet. It is not recommended for determining change in breaking strength due to wetting, because of possible dimensional changes in the fabric.
The procedure may be used with constant-rate-of-ext
The method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this method has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
