scope:
This instruction applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance of antenna systems and radiating cable systems used on Network Rail radio communications equipment.
The maintenance requirements for earthing system associated with masts is detailed in NR/L2/TEL/30074.
Purpose
This document defines the maintenance requirements for Telecoms antennas, feeder systems, radio structures, monopoles, poles, rapid deployment system frames, fall arrest systems and ancillary equipment in use on Network Rail infrastructure. This contributes to reducing the risk of equipment failure.
The purpose of maintaining and testing these systems is to:
a) decrease the incidence of failures through deterioration;
b) identify potential failures before they become service affecting; and
c) identify any problems with a fall arrest system or the integrity of a radio structure that may present a hazard to staff required to access or climb a radio structure for faulting, planned maintenance or installation purposes.
