scope:
This supplement applies in conjunction with Guidelines DVS 2203-4, DVS 2203-1 and DVS 2205-1 for the tensile creep testing of welded joints of polyethylenes 1) (PE 80 and PE 100). It is used to verify the required tensile creep test weld strength reduction factor for the welding process used, and to determine the minimum service life of welded joints, e.g. in operating conditions for liquids with A2B = 1 to Guideline DVS 2205-1.
1) We suspect that the guideline applies to polypropylene welded joints, because the creep curves for PP in DIN 8078 or EN 1778 follow the same systematic course as the creep curves for PE 80 and PE 100 in DIN 8075 (creep curves run parallel and distance between curves is proportional to the reciprocal absolute temperature).
