This guidance applies to the interiors of LU passenger rolling stock, in passenger carrying service only, occupied by passengers or staff

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on measures which promote safer London Underground (LU) rolling stock interior environments for passengers, staff and personnel under normal working conditions and a higher level of protection under collision conditions. Enhanced interior crashworthiness increases the survivability of passengers, train staff and personnel under these conditions and minimises those injuries that may preclude their subsequent Escape

Guidance is also given to encourage design of LU rolling stock interiors that provide passengers, train staff and personnel adequate opportunity to evacuate and Escape from a vehicle in the event of an emergency
