Specifies techniques and conditions for the measurement of noise on board vessels, both inland and seagoing, in order to obtain reproducible and comparable measurements. The results may be used, for example, for the following: - to compare various vessels;- in delivery and acceptance tests for comparison with national or international legislation and owner's specifications;- in monitoring tests;- as a basis for further investigations and noise-abatement measures;- as a basis to assess the noise exposure and the effects of the noise to which seafarers are exposed;- to assess speech intelligibility;- to assess the audibility of acoustical alarms.
