Applicability.
This regulation applies to the Active Army , the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated. During mobilization, the proponent may modify policies contained in this regulation.
Purpose
This regulation describes the Army Foreign Language Program. It establishes policies and procedures for the management of Army linguists and command language programs (CLPs). The CLPs facilitate foreign language refresher, remediation, sustainment, enhancement, and cross-training of assigned linguists. This regulation establishes responsibilities within the Army Foreign Language Program, delineates minimum language training and language proficiency standards, and establishes associated language testing requirements. It also establishes program planning and reporting requirements.
