MODUK - DEF STAN 07-247

Selection of Materials on the Basis of their Fire Characteristics

inactive
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 28 June 2018
Status: inactive
Page Count: 50
scope:

This Annex provides the requirements for control and selection of materials based on their fire characteristics and specifies the aims and procedures by which it is intended to ensure that only authorised materials are fitted in ships and submarines.

This Annex and associated Appendix are as applicable to submarines as they are to ships and hence both ships and submarines are referred to throughout this Annex. Additionally, there are submarine specific requirements in the equivalent submarine Annex A.

The tests and acceptance criteria contained at Appendix 1, relate only to the tests undertaken to assess the fire characteristics of materials. Other tests, mechanical and chemical, may also be required to fully assess the suitability of a material against a stated standard. The requirements of BR1326 Chapter 6 may also be applicable, particularly for materials fitted in closed boat conditions (e.g. submarines).
