scope:
This specification sets forth the requirements for modification kits to improve video inputs to NAS automation equipment from operating FPS-60 series radars. The modifications will be implemented in a manner that will not reduce the existing operational capability of military use outputs. The normal video channel will be modified to reduce the inherent pulse stretching on strong aircraft returns. The Video Delay Adapters at FPS-60 series radar sites will be replaced with circuitry to minimize video ringing, multiple target replies and baseline shift at inputs to the NAS automation equipment. Log receivers with separate log/FTC/antilog features for aircraft detection and video for use with NAS weather outline equipment with no weather fixes applied other than circular polarization will be provided. Weather log video will be available for mixing with log/FTC/antilog video for manual (broadband) PPI display of weather and targets. Automatic and manual video output selection will be used to improve operational availability during diplex transmitter operation.
