This Standard specifies the construction and testing of portable power cables normally used in applications where the cables are subject to frequent flexing, and installation is in accordance with CSA Standards CAN3-M421, Use of Electricity in Mines, and/or C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The cable constructions specified in this Standard are suitable for use at a maximum conductor temperature of 90 degrees C under normal operating conditions in wet or dry locations, outdoors or in underground mines, and in rugged environments.
This Standard does not specify all types, sizes, and voltage ratings of portable power cables that may be required for particular applications.
