This standard shall identify the professional levels of performance required for fire inspectors and plan examiners, specifically identifying the job performance requirements necessary to perform as a fire inspector or a plan examiner.

Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify the minimum job performance requirements for service as a fire inspector and plan examiner.

This standard shall define three levels of progression for fire inspectors and two levels of progression for plan examiners.

This standard shall not address management responsibility.

It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding or combining these minimum requirements.
