scope:
This Standard applies to Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets owned by LU.
This Standard defines the requirements for Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets through the following lifecycle stages:
Inception and design
Construction, installation, testing and commissioning
Inspection
Analytical assessment
Condition assessment and certification
Maintenance
Strengthening and Renewal
Decommissioning
Evidence of compliance
This standard replaces 2-01304-006 A1. The Standard has been re formatted and renumbered. There were no technical changes.
Purpose
The purpose of this Standard is to define the whole life cycle requirements for Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets. These assets comprise:
Running tunnels
Cross passages between running tunnels
Step plate junctions
Crossover tunnels
Depot approach tunnels (e.g. London Road)
Overrun tunnels
Siding tunnels
Platform tunnels
Concourse tunnels
Station passageway tunnels
Tunnel headwalls
Tunnel ringwalls
Tunnel openings and junctions
Inclined shafts (e.g. escalator shafts)
Vertical shafts (e.g. ventilation, access, service, lift and substation shafts)
Cable shafts
Pump shafts
Disused tunnels
Disused shafts
Other tunnels and shafts constructed by mining methods
In defining requirements specifically applicable to Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets, this Standard complements LU Standard 1-050 (Civil Engineering - Common Requirements) that defines mandatory requirements generally applicable to all Civil Engineering assets including the Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets.
A supporting Manual of Good Practice G-055 gives guidance and explanation on Deep Tube Tunnel and Shaft assets.
