This standard specifies safety requirements for the design and construction of agricultural front end loaders (front loaders) designed to be mounted on agricultural wheeled tractors (as defined in ASAE 390.3, sections 3.1.1.1 and 3.1.1.2). The purpose of this standard is to provide a reasonable degree of personal safety for operators and other persons during normal operation and servicing of front loaders on agricultural tractors.

The extent to which hazards are covered is indicated in the scope of this standard. ISO symbol references (ISO 11684:1995) should be used whenever practicable to identify functions or hazards.
