scope:

This standard covers belting for oil-country use of the following types: leather -belting, impregnated stitched cotton fabric belting, solid woven hair belting, solid woven cotton belting, balata belting, rubber belting, endless rubber cord belting, and regular and premium quality V-belts. Included are requirements on tensile strength, elongation, general construction, testing, and marking, for the seven classes of :flat belting and dimensional and marking requirements on V-belts. This standard covers also dimensional and marking requirements on V-belt sheaves. Recommended practices for care and use of oil field belting, for power application of V-belts, and for rating of V-belt and :flat belt drives for !beam pumping of individual wells by the peak tight-side tension method are appended.
