OBJECTIVE

The ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF) has identified security solutions that dictate the need for managing the ATIS IIF Trust Hierarchy, including certificate revocation and certificate status checking.

This document is designed to meet the following objectives:

1. Support managing all branches of the ATIS IIF Trust Hierarchy.

2. Provide certificate revocation status information for all branches of the ATIS IIF Trust Hierarchy, including methods to express and authenticate rules for locating certificate status servers.

3. Provide certificate revocation status checking.

4. Address the creation of new Trust Hierarchies through the use of cross-certification.

The current version of this document does not specify the exact mechanism of cross-certification.
