scope:

This Network Rail standard specifies the outline rules for certification of gauge compatibility of rail vehicles on Network Rail managed infrastructure.

This standard applies when undertaking gauge compatibility certification for any rail vehicle, out of gauge load or standard gauge to run on Network Rail managed infrastructure.

Purpose

This standard specifies the process to be used to certify gauge compatibility of rail vehicles, the required levels of delegated authority (gauging) and applicable ruleset for Out of Gauge load movements applied to RIS-2773-RST compliant static vehicle models. This ties into the design/install/renew optimised track system, non-track infrastructure infringement and vehicle compatibility process controls on the gauging bowtie NR/GN/TRK8001/0701.
