The test methods and requirements reflect the minimum properties which conductors, wires and cables shall meet for MOD use. The unique properties and construction of particular wire or cable shall be specified in the relevant Defence Standard Supplement.

This standard specifies requirements for airframe wires and cables in temperature categories 135°C, 150°C, 200°C and 260°C with medium and thin wall insulation. This insulation system has been tested for use in aerospace applications using 115 volts (phase to neutral), 400 hertz ac and 28 volts dc. Verification of the suitability of this product for use in other electrical system configuration levels is the responsibility of the user.
