This Defence Standard is to be applied as required to any Ministry of Defence contract for the welding and fabrication of High Strength Steels (HSS) i.e. Q1(N), Q2(N), QT35 and HY80.

It defines the criteria for assessing variations from existing reference procedures and the testing and standards required for approval.
