This Level 2 standard applies to all projects to alter Network Rail's infrastructure, or with the potential to affect the fitness for purpose of the Network Rail Infrastructure. It is mandatory for all work with signalling content which requires testing to NR/L2/SIG/30014.

Purpose

This document is part of the suite of documents contained within the Signalling Works Testing Handbook, NR/L2/SIG/30014, which together detail the requirements for signalling works testing activities.

This Level 2 document specifies the requirements for the production of Signalling Works Test Specifications, and defines the defined checks and tests referred to in the specifications themselves.

It also specifies the requirements for Test Certificates, and mandates a standardised format for the certifying of satisfactory testing achievement using Test Certificates.

The actual equipment or testing type specific Signalling Works Test Specifications and Certificates are issued as sections of NR/L2/SIG/30014/D120, and their current status is listed in NR/L2/SIG/30014.

Together with the defined checks and tests in within NR/L2/SIG/ 30014/D115 and the individual specifications within NR/L2/SIG/ 30014/D120, this standard defines the mandatory tests and procedures necessary to test new or altered signalling equipment with sufficient depth that, when implemented in conjunction with the other applicable parts of the Signalling Works Testing Handbook, safe working is confirmed when signed into service.
