scope:
This Specification applies to protective treatments for application to new work on Railtrack infrastructure and for the maintenance of existing Railtrack infrastructure.
This Specification includes requirements for:
• materials to be wet applied as Priming Coats, Intermediate Coats and Top Coats and intended for application by spray, brush or roller;
• powder coating materials intended for application using electrostatic techniques;
• sealants intended to seal gaps between components joined by mechanical means, or a fillet to such a joint.
This Specification gives requirements for materials intended to be used principally for protective treatment, but such materials may also be used for decorative purposes.
This Specification does not apply to:
• protective treatments to be applied to rails and other track components;
• metal coatings in accordance with British or European Standards that may be used as a sole protective treatment.
PURPOSE
This Specification details the performance specifications, and certification and product registration requirements for materials to be used for the protective treatment of Railtrack infrastructure.
