This specification covers long welded strings manufactured by the flash welding of new rails at fixed plant. The following rail profiles and grades are covered. Only joints between rails of the same grade are covered.
See RT/CE/S/130 for on-site flash-welding of rails (new or existing), and RT/CE/S/131 for the flashwelding of leg-ends on cast crossings and for the flash-welding of switch rails and transition rails.
PURPOSE
