This Standard applies to spas, hot tubs, and associated equipment intended for residential and commercial use indoors or outdoors in nonhazardous locations and connected
(a) permanently to an electrical circuit of 250 V or less (i.e., a maximum of 150 volts-to-ground); or
(b) by a factory provided supply cord, terminating in a moulded attachment plug, to an electrical supply rated at not more than 125 V single-phase and not more than 15 A
Note: See Clause 4.28 for requirements for plug- and cord-connected equipment.
Clauses 1 to 6 apply to spas and hot tubs and Clauses 7 and 8 apply to associated equipment as follows:
(a) Clause 7 - remote packaged units for use with spas and hot tubs; and
(b) Clause 8 - lighting equipment provided as an integral part of a spa or hot tub.
This Standard does not apply to
(a) hydromassage bathtubs covered in CSA Standard C22.2 No. 218.2;
(b)portable hydromassage units;
(c) heated bathtubs;
(d) hydrotherapy bathtubs or units; and
(e) swimming pool heaters.
