Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 14 October 2019
Status: active
Page Count: 25
scope:

This Defence Standard specifies requirements for Thermoset and Glass Fibre Reinforced Composites, in nominal thicknesses ranging from 7 mm to 28 mm, for ballistic protection purposes in military equipment. The laminates are suitable for fabrication during build or refit.

This Defence Standard covers two grades of composite. The first grade is purely for ballistic protection performance. The second grade has, in addition to ballistic protection performance, minimum mechanical properties to allow it to be employed in load bearing applications.

The material is deployed in safety critical applications where ballistic performance is a requirement. The manufacturer shall demonstrate compliance with the requirement before supplying to this standard.

NOTE: Where material outside the 7 - 28 mm range is to be supplied then the customer and supplier shall agree appropriate ballistic test criterion.

USERS MUST CONFIRM THAT THEY ARE USING THE CORRECT CLASS OF ARMOUR.
